Fusion
Mitchum Yacoub an Egyptian-American multi-instrumentalist, producer, and DJ based out of San Diego, CA. As a lifelong drummer that has supported many projects in the vein of Afrobeat, Soul, Funk, and Reggae, he's been slow-brewing a unique feel for roots and dance music.
Inspired by artists like Fela Kuti, Dr. Dre, and James Brown, his music harkens back to Africa in the 70’s with the bass and drums turned up a notch. Strong, repetitive grooves layered with Afro-Latin percussion and vibrant, tightly executed horn lines that call all dancers to the floor.
Since beginning his first live performances in late 2019, Yacoub has played alongside roots music heavies like The Wailers, Antibalas, Jungle Fire, and Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto. In 2022, his group supported Seun Kuti for six shows across the U.S., while he traded on percussion and drum kit for Kuti's band: Egypt 80 (formerly of Fela Kuti). The experience trained him well in the rhythmic strength of the music and earned him and his band a place in the global scene of Afrobeat.
Originality, musicianship, and a massive sound are three marks keeping Yacoub’s band on the road and a fast-growing festival favorite. The highly acclaimed release of his debut album, “Living High in the Brass Empire”, (2023 All-Town Sound) brings the experience home as a showcase in his unique approach to roots music; forming explosive intersections of Afrobeat, Cumbia, and Soul that will lift you from your seat and leave you wanting more.

Alternative Country
Sonny & His Rhinestone Sunsets
Sonny & His Rhinestone Sunsets
Alternative Country
Sonny & the Sunset's vintage-style west coast pop songs tell sordid tales of death, drowning, outcasts, heavenly visions and otherworldly despair. This was captured in its purest form on their 2009 debut album Tomorrow is Alright, which still radiates with a classic yet indefinable sound, akin to a futuristic take 50's R&B.
In this special show Sonny & the “Rhinestone Sunsets” will present music from his country records Longtime Companion and New Day With New Possibilities

Garage Revival
Trestles
Trestles
Garage Revival
Trestles is a surf/psych outfit from Santa Cruz, California. Formed in 2021, the band has spent the last several years developing a sound based in 1960’s west coast garage rock tradition. From their early days as a fresh faced college rock band to their more recent years as bonafide 60s garage revivalists, the band has consistently been rooted in the culture of Santa Cruz.
With their own take on a 60’s surf/garage revival sound, Trestles’ current day sound is the byproduct of shared time studying and obsessing over the history of music recording arts at the local community college. The band’s attitude about “...what makes guitar bands worth anything in the age of infinitely accessible stimulation,” seems to be Trestles’ only traceable ethos. Seeing the current landscape of independent music projects as “...a bunch of short-form theatre acts,” the band's goal is to only participate in things that push culture forward.

Kaefan
Cumbia
Kaefan is a Latin artist who blends his Mexican roots and California influences to create his own cosmic sounds. Growing up in Salinas, California, Kaefan understood how gathering together to dance, feel joy and share stories is part of survival. He hopes to continue this energy through his music for the current generations of Latinos by bridging traditional latin sounds with his electronic production.
