DUANE EUBANKS QUINTET-CELEBRATING THE MUSIC AND LEGACY OF LEE MORGAN

Fri, 11 Dec, 7:00 PM EST
Scullers Jazz Club

400 Soldiers Field Road, Boston, MA 02134

Description
For this special evening at Scullers Jazz Club, trumpeter Duane Eubanks brings together an extraordinary quintet to celebrate the music and legacy of Philadelphia jazz legend Lee Morgan. A Philadelphia native and deeply connected to the city’s rich jazz tradition, Eubanks has established his own distinctive voice as a trumpeter, composer, bandleader, and educator. For this tribute, he is joined by four remarkable musicians whose individual artistry brings depth, power, and character to the music. Antonio Hart — alto saxophone A celebrated altoist and masterful improviser, Hart brings a commanding yet lyrical voice to the front line. His extensive work as a bandleader, recording artist, and educator reflects a deep connection to the jazz tradition while embracing its continued evolution. Jordan Williams — piano One of the exciting younger voices in jazz, Williams brings remarkable musicality, rhythmic sophistication, and a fresh perspective to the piano chair. His playing connects the language of the tradition with a distinctly contemporary sensibility. A native of Philadelphia, Williams carries the city’s rich musical legacy into a new generation. Kenny Davis — bass A veteran bassist known for his powerful groove, melodic sensibility, and exceptional versatility, Davis provides the foundation that allows the music to breathe, swing, and take unexpected turns. Byron Landham — drums A dynamic drummer with deep Philadelphia roots, Landham brings precision, drive, and an unmistakable sense of swing. His playing provides the rhythmic engine for a band built around the energy and spirit of hard bop. Together, these five musicians create a band that honors Lee Morgan without simply recreating the past. The music is approached with respect for Morgan’s unmistakable voice while leaving room for interpretation, improvisation, and the individual personalities of today’s players. From Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love, to Boston, the Hub, this is a meeting of musical traditions—and one extraordinary night celebrating the enduring sound of Lee Morgan.
