Description
Douyé is a Nigerian-born jazz vocalist based in Los Angeles, known for her warm tone, elegant phrasing, and profound emotional depth. Drawing inspiration from legends Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, and Sarah Vaughan, she infuses timeless sophistication and soul into every performance. Her 2017 jazz debut, Daddy Said So, spent over 25 consecutive weeks on the JazzWeek charts and featured acclaimed musicians including Ron Carter, Russell Malone, John Beasley, and Kenny Barron. In 2020, she released Quatro, a heartfelt tribute to bossa nova and Brazilian jazz, blending the genre’s sensuality with her signature vocal style, with contributions from esteemed artists such as Romero Lubambo, Justo Almario, and more. Her most recent album, The Golden Sèkèrè (2023), gracefully merges straight-ahead jazz with the vibrant rhythms of her Nigerian heritage. Celebrated for its uniqueness, cultural richness, and artistic depth, it marks a significant milestone in her evolving musical journey.
