All of us at Jazz Standard are pleased to welcome Django Bates for this rare New York appearance.  The British pianist and composer (born 1960 in Beckenham, Kent) will lead the Belovèd trio, with bassist Petter Eldh and drummer Peter Bruun, originally formed more than a decade ago to play the music of Charlie Parker. His Jazz Standard engagement celebrates the release of Django’s ECM label debut, The Study of Touch, following two well–received earlier albums by the Belovèd trio on the Lost Marble label, Beloved Bird (2010) and Confirmation (2012). “Over time, gifted player/composers sometimes sideline the first skill in favor of the second – but not Django Bates.
