Proudly hailing from the musically rich foothills of Cleveland County (Shelby, NC), Dirty Grass Soul has been entertaining audiences across the Carolinas and beyond since their formation in 2011. With a sound that draws much influence from traditional music of the North Carolina foothills, Dirty Grass Soul manages to bring a new, refreshed, and re-energized sound to their music that falls somewhere between country, bluegrass, and southern rock & roll.
After touring primarily in the Carolinas behind their self-released albums “Soul'd Out: Live at the Don Gibson Theatre” "The Long Way" and "New Day of Work" DGS has tirelessly expanded their touring circle over the years earning them a reputation as one of the southeast's emerging Southern Rock/Alt. Country bands.
Dirty Grass Soul has shared the stage/been featured on bills with many legendary acts throughout their career including The Charlie Daniels Band, The Marshall Tucker Band, Hank Williams Jr., Sammy Kershaw, Tracy Lawrence, Joe Nichols, Craig Morgan, Josh Turner, Rhonda Vincent, 49 Winchester, Lainey Wilson, Randy Owen, Uncle Kracker, Colt Ford, The Kentucky Headhunters, Eastin Corbin, Parmalee, Corey Smith, Cody Jinks, Whitey Morgan, and many others. They have twice been featured performers on the popular fan favorite “Country Cruising - Country Music Cruise.”
Outside of touring, DGS recently made a cameo appearance on the pilot episode of the #1 hit NETFLIX series “The Hunting Wives” in 2025 and had several of their songs featured in the soundtrack.
Whether it is the hint of bluegrass, outlaw country, or rock & roll you hear in each song, their sound is uniquely Dirty Grass Soul. From Dedmon's down home/working class lyrics to their blazing instrumental breaks, Dirty Grass Soul is sure to offer a little something for everyone. The Piedmont Boys started out in Greenville, SC over a decade ago by frontman Greg Payne. They’ve played thousands of shows, logged thousands of miles, released four albums, toured half the continental U.S., shared stages with everyone from Eric Church to Charlie Robison..hell, they’ve even played rodeos from Oregon to Texas. But wherever they go, the refrain of the fans who come up to them remains the same: “I never liked country music until I heard y’all.”
What these folks must be talking about is the watered-down pop-country stuff you hear on the radio nowadays, because if you don’t like REAL country…Merle, Willie, Waylon, Johnny…you won’t like The Piedmont Boys.
If you don’t like against-the-grain, outlaw brand, whiskey-soaked, blue-collar honky-tonk music, the kind where the volume and the energy are dead ringers for rock & roll but the sound is gritty hard-country, you won’t like The Piedmont Boys.
If you don’t like a live show that’s pedal-to-the-floorboard, rock the place down to the dirt and drain every drop of sweat from every human being in the house, you won’t like The Piedmont Boys.
If you don’t like your Jerry Reed mixed with a little Metallica if you don’t like a band that loves playing live so much that they’ve had one weekend off in seven years, if you don’t like country mixed with bluegrass mixed with southern rock mixed with a little…make that a lot…of Jack Daniels, you won’t like The Piedmont Boys.
If any of that sounds like one hell of a good time, though, y’all come on in. The door’s always open.
