In times of sorrow, we are reminded that suffering knows no borders—and neither should compassion.

Yet even in difficult times, there are moments that draw us closer. Through music, art, tradition, celebration, and remembrance, people gather across cultures and continents to share joy, offer comfort, and dream together. In those moments, the distance between us seems to disappear, revealing the bonds that have always connected us.

The same sun rises over each of us.
The same moon watches over those we love.
The same stars that guided our ancestors continue to shine above us today.

Wherever we may stand upon this earth, we are all bajo un mismo cielo — under one sky.

Día de los Muertos reminds us that love knows no borders. Memory belongs to us all. Grief belongs to us all. Hope belongs to us all. When we gather to honor our ancestors, we are reminded that every life leaves behind a story—and every story is worthy of being remembered.

    Latin

    When DannyLux was seven years old, his father, who drove a trash truck through the Coachella Valley, spotted a guitar that someone had thrown out and brought it home. That discarded instrument became the first chapter of an improbable story. A little more than a decade later, the kid from the Palm Springs area walked onto the Coachella stage as one of the festival’s most anticipated performers.

    Now 22, the Mexican American singer, songwriter, and producer has become one of the defining young voices in Latin music and a pioneering figure in “alternative sierreño”—a sound that pairs the romantic heartbreak of regional Mexican corridos with the texture and ambition of classic rock. His influences trace a wide arc, from The Beatles and Pink Floyd to Ritchie Valens, layered over the Mexican music that filled his childhood home.

    He started writing his own songs at 15, and his early single “24:7” went viral, introducing a melancholic, guitar-led style that connected instantly with a new generation while pushing the boundaries of contemporary Latin music. His breakout collaboration with Eslabón Armado, “Jugaste y Sufrí,” which he wrote, has since surpassed 300 million views and put his songwriting on the global map.

    Though his career is still young, DannyLux has already made a name for himself internationally. In 2022, he earned a Billboard Latin Music Award nomination for “Jugaste y Sufrí,” a Premios Juventud nomination, nominations for Artist of the Year and Best Sierreño Song of the Year at Mexico City’s Radio Awards, and a gold certification for his hit single “Infeliz.” That same year, he served as the official opening act for Coldplay across eight shows in Mexico.

    In 2023, he made his Coachella debut and received his first Premio Lo Nuestro nomination from Univision for Best New Artist—Regional Mexican. His hometown of Desert Hot Springs also presented him with the keys to the city. He closed the year with an A COLORS SHOW appearance and a Tiny Desk performance, a second consecutive placement on Billboard’s “21 Under 21” list, and a spot on Variety’s Young Hollywood Report—cementing his standing as one of the most exciting young artists of his generation.

    The momentum carried into 2024. He appeared in the Grammys’ Press Play series and SoundCloud’s docuseries SCENES, was featured in Spotify’s La Tierra de Música Mexicana, and earned a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Mexican Music Album for EVOLUXION.

    DannyLux opened 2025 by sharing the stage with Eslabón Armado and Cuco at Viva Music Festival’s “I Heart L.A.” In May, he released his most ambitious work to date: the album LEYENDA and its accompanying short film. The project earned him a second consecutive Latin Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Mexican Music Album and a performance slot on the awards’ live telecast.

    Spanning 19 original tracks, LEYENDA marked a bold creative leap and a clear step forward in his growth as a songwriter and musician. The album landed at No. 6 on Billboard’s Best Latin Albums of 2025 So Far and No. 20 on Rolling Stone en Español’s Best Albums of 2025 So Far. The short film also gave him his first foray into acting, widening the scope of his artistry. Shortly afterward, he made his runway debut at Paris Fashion Week, walking in designer Willy Chavarria’s highly curated show.

    In 2026, DannyLux signed a global publishing deal with Universal Music Publishing Group and appeared on Rawayana’s latest album with the track “Bienvenidos a la Tierra,” continuing an evolution that places him among the artists reshaping the contemporary music landscape.

  • Trish Toledo

    Latin Soul

    From Carson, California, a community south of Los Angeles, Trish Toledo was born into an Ecuadorian-Guatemalan family with much older siblings. Their musical tastes – plus the influence of her father, who was a musician – provided her with access to music that existed long before her time. Although the first music she sang was cumbias and ballads, she discovered that it was the timeless pop and soul ballads that she felt most connected to. “The lyrics were so simple and the performances so raw and clean,” she remembers.
     
    While her father’s musical influences permeated her childhood, it was his “musician’s life” that accounted for his absence from the family. Subsequently, when she became a teen parent herself, Trish put her own musical aspirations on hold in order to offer undivided attention as a mother. In May 2017, now old enough to realize his mother’s formidable vocal abilities, it was her 11-year son that noted the void in his mom’s life, as he encouraged her to reestablish her musical journey.
     
    Exploring a classic catalog of material, Trish selects songs to record based on how the themes most faithfully mirror her life experiences. ”What I have gone through, or am going through,” she says. She prefers to record much like her predecessors did – in one take, all the way through, without punch ins and overdubs. Her cross-generational audiences include both older listeners who grew up with the type of songs she sings, to young fans for whom this music is brand new.

    When she is not performing or recording, Trish explores art shows. She is especially interested in the vibrant visuals of Chicano art, and her multiple tattoos bear visual testimony to her appreciation of shapes and colors.

    Tropa Magica is a psychedelic cumbia punk band from East Los Angeles formed by brothers David and Rene Pacheco. They seamlessly blend the rhythms of 1960s Peruvian cumbia with the raw energy of 1990s grunge, punk, and psychedelic rock. Inspired by the vibrant backyard parties and community celebrations of their youth, the band has built a reputation for high-energy, genre-defying performances. Their unique sound has taken them on national tours, earned them spots at major music festivals, and landed them the theme song for a Netflix comedy special.

    Los Shadows is a surf/dream pop and indie rock band from San Diego and National City, California, founded in 2015 by singer-guitarists Andy Saldana and Pepe Gonzales.
