From infectious energy and soulful chords to soft, woozy vocals, together Bricknasty’s music effortlessly traverses RnB, neo soul, jazz and psych citing influences such as D’Angelo, MF Doom, and Timbaland. As the members have flourished, so too have their songs, with each individual contributing to both existing demos and the wider texture of the collective’s identity and vision. Their obvious harmony and musical synchronicity as a band extends to their live shows too, which have caused a groundswell of word-of-mouth buzz in Dublin and beyond.
Dev explores contrast pretty heavily in this album, and showcases her versatile range when it comes to the different sounds she has tapped into. She is building an unsettling world through a variety of visceral images and visuals that go along with the music. The album as a whole explores the ups and downs of emotion that come with grieving the loss of someone in your life after a breakup – and the feeling of someone who used to be such a huge part of your life becoming a stranger to you again. It explores the wide range of emotions that follow such a transitional period in life, such as confidence, pain, discomfort, anger, and escapism.

Los Angeles-based Abby Kenna is something of a Chappell Roan for born-again emo kids. Raised on pop-punk by her foul-mouthed Jersey mother, paired with the Fiona Apple CD she found at way too young of an age, Abby Kenna’s cynical, but sincere alt-pop sound was born. After two resounding independent successes with debut singles “Soft” (a very queer F-U anthem) and “Be cool” (where the provocateur finds innocent yearning) – totaling over 100,000 streams without editorial support – Kenna’s cult following grows by the day as listeners thrive in her vulnerable vulgarity. Her debut EP, Spit!, will be released on February 7th, 2025.
