ROMES is an electronic rock duo of brothers from Toronto, Canada. Coining the genre Punktronic, the pair meld analog chaos with digital precision creating a high-voltage sound drawing influence from 90s grunge and electro to industrial and dance-punk. The duo’s debut album SONIC TRASH (released independently on November 14 2025) combines elements of DIY experimentation and distorted synths with hard-hitting rhythms and the punk energy and ethos reminiscent of the bloghouse era. Siblings Jacob (lead vocals, bass, synths) and Nicolas (drums) have spent years honing their chops and take full artistic control over everything they do, from their music production, mixing, mastering, and artwork, to merch design and video direction. It’s led to the pair supporting the likes of The Strokes, The Warning, Mutemath, and Saint Asonia on tour, while earning multiple editorial playlist cover spots on Spotify as an independent band. Before they were out of elementary school, the two brothers were recording demos on an 8-track mixer in their parents’ basement, experimenting with different production techniques using the limited technology available to them. Now, with an arsenal of synths, guitars, and pedals, ROMES bridge glitched-out analog sounds with blistering modern production. The brothers’ love for gear and experimentation is showcased on their social media channels - where they constantly innovate with out-of-the-box production techniques.
