Jazz
A legendary voice in jazz returns to the forefront—this time with new wings.
For more than fifty years, David Murray has shaped the sound of modern jazz: bold, inventive, rooted in tradition while constantly pushing boundaries. He is opening a new chapter with his current quartet featuring vocalist/lyricist Francesca Cinelli, with Marta Sanchez (piano), Luke Stewart (double bass), and Russell Carter (drums). A concentration of virtuosity and creativity!
His album Francesca (Intakt Records, 2024) confirmed that Murray is the new tenor of the time. Critics hailed it as one of the best jazz albums of the year (The New York Times, Downbeat, Jazzwise, Slate, and many others), confirming the legendary saxophonist's creative vitality. He returns with his new opus, Birdly Serenade (Impulse! Records (2025): “David Murray in full possession of the magic” (Slate), “David Murray is back with the next generation of geniuses” (Washington Post).
