David Garfield
Music
David Garfield has been driven by the same mission statement since moving from his hometown of St. Louis to Los Angeles as a teenager in the early 70s: “I make music.” Fully living up to this vision and in more expansive ways over the past few decades, the multi-talented keyboardist, composer, arranger and recording artist has established himself an eclectic force of musical nature. At any given point during his career—and often at the same time—he has been a renowned songwriter, producer, bandleader (of Los Angeles based contemporary world jazz collectives Karizma and Los Lobotomys), arranger, recording artist, record label owner (Creatchy Records), session and touring musician, musical director and composer of various commissioned themes for global organizations.
The multi-talented musician has had a particularly fruitful career spanning over five decades starting with stints with Willie Bobo, Freddie Hubbard, and Tom Scott in the ‘70s, joining Boz Scaggs and George Benson, and releasing his first solo recordings in the ‘80s. After spending much time in the studio working with the LA session elites, Garfield joined forces with members of Toto to continue recording, touring and performing locally in the LA scene.
Eventually, he started a songwriting partnership with Smokey Robinson, which led to a lasting studio relationship arranging and producing for the Motown legend. Robinson’s current release Gasms features Garfield on piano, arranging, and producing. Besides his collaborations with Smokey, Garfield has done numerous stints as George Benson’s musical director, as well as arranging, producing, and performing on the legendary singer/guitarist’s 2011 release Guitar Man. Garfield continues to work with a wide variety of legendary artists such as The Temptations, Cher, Spinal Tap, Ratt, Larry Carlton, Flora Purim, and arranged and performed on “Higher Than The World,” for Van Morrison as part of the rock/soul legend’s all-star collection Duets: Re-working the Catalogue.
In addition to all of his work for others David has put together several series of his own solo works (Outside The Box series, Guitar Heroes series, Salute To The Masters series, Monster Trio series) which features artists such as Michael McDonald, David Sanborn, Eddie Van Halen, Don Henley, Joe Sample, along with members of Tom Petty’s Heartbreakers, Toto, Zac Brown Band, Chicago, The Doors, Jimmy Buffet, Santana, Steely Dan, The Meters, Tower of Power, Vulfpek and Dirty Loops. His original composition cowritten with Smokey Robinson, “One Like You” is a duet between Smokey and Michael McDonald on Jammin’ Outside The Box as well as recorded by George Benson on Songs & Stories.
Garfield has been commissioned to write and produce theme songs and musical projects for several international organizations, including the song and CD “Pool of Friendship” for the Swimming Aquatics organization LEN (League of European Nations); the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC); and “Deep Within Each Man” (co-written with Phil Perry) for the Shorinji Kempo Japanese Karate Foundation. Garfield also produced “I Play The Piano,” a Blue Ray DVD of Terry Trotter playing solo piano on AIX Media.
Some of Garfield’s other CDs are Tribute To Jeff [Porcaro], which was dedicated to long time friend and bandmate, drummer Jeff Porcaro and received international acclaim as well as top 10 charting. Giving Back, which enjoyed regular airplay throughout the U.S., Europe, Japan and Australia. Other solo releases were L.A. Keyboard Project, Recollections, Seasons of Change, and I Am the Cat, Man.
Featuring many of Los Angeles’ top session and touring musicians, Karizma’s discography on Creatchy includes Dream Come True, Cuba, All The Way Live, Forever in the Arms of Love, Document and Lost and Found. Among other projects he has helmed for Creatchy are albums by guitarist Michael Landau and former Toto bassist Mike Porcaro. Another classic Creatchy release, Los Lobotomys, is a collaboration with prominent members of the pop band Toto, with whom Garfield has performed many times throughout the years.
Besides releasing his own CDs, leading his own bands and performing live, David Garfield continues to collaborate with the top musical talent across the globe both as a producer, arranger as well as a keyboardist and songwriter. He enjoys working for other artists and helping them achieve their vision as well as providing his label Creatchy Records with a continuing full schedule of new releases to come.

Country Soul
Wendy Moten
Wendy Moten
Country Soul
Wendy Moten may have launched her career as a pop/R&B artist and taken cool detours into jazz throughout her fascinating career, but her heart clearly belongs to Nashville. Living and immersing in Music City for the past 23 years, the multi-talented vocalist has toured with Faith Hill & Tim McGraw (2005-2018) and Martina McBride (2014-2016) – and since 2016, has been on the road with the legendary Vince Gill (the man she calls “Emperor of Nashville”) when he hasn’t been touring with the Eagles. Their dynamic working relationship, and the 21-time Grammy winner’s long-held appreciation for Wendy’s versatility, culminates now in I’ve Got You Covered, an extraordinary passion project she’s had in her sights for years.
Produced by Gill and featuring the elite among Nashville’s most legendary hit making session musicians, the nine-track collection is the singer’s long-awaited moment in the country music spotlight. Effortlessly and intuitively inhabiting classic but lately little heard songs hand-picked by Gill, Wendy finds her groove – and her spiritual musical home – celebrating the gloried history of traditional country music by singing what she calls “real stories and real songs.”
She brings fresh relevance to tunes from the 60’s and 70’s by Ernest Tubb (“Driving Nails in My Coffin”), Jeannie Seely (“Don’t Touch Me”), Bobby Gentry (“Ode to Billie Joe”), George Jones (“Walk Through This World With Me”), Jeff & Sheri Easter (“Going Away Party”), Dolly Parton & Porter Wagoner (“Each Season Changes You”), Tammy Wynette (“Til I Get It Right”) and Webb Pierce and Mel Tills (“I Ain’t Never”). Wendy and Gill also share a beautiful duet re-imagining of the Linda Ronstadt heartbreaker “Faithless Love.” The two had previously paired for “True Love” on the 2018 all-star compilation Muscle Shoals: Small Town, Big Sound.
When Wendy joined Gill’s band, the first person she told about her dream to record a country album was Paul Franklin, one of the most recorded pedal steel guitarists in history. Franklin casually mentioned it to Gill, piquing his interest and prompting Gill to invite Wendy over to his home for discussions that led to a commitment to produce the sessions that evolved into I’ve Got You Covered. In addition to Franklin, the project features stalwarts Willie Weeks (bass), Richard Bennett (guitar), Fred Eltringham (drums), Charlie Judge (strings), Jeff Taylor (accordion) and the horn section of saxphonists Mark Douthit and Doug Moffett, trombonist Barry Green and trumpeter Mike Hayes.
“Vince set dates to record the project a few months after we first talked about it,” Wendy says. “Though we discussed some material during that first meeting, he surprised me by choosing completely different songs for me and the band to do on the actual days of the session. I knew the band guys, having played on countless hits over the years, were up for that, and I was determined to not be the weakest link and rise to the challenge. Vince was glad I didn’t know the songs because this ensured they would sound spontaneous and fresh. He wanted me to jump right in.
“I read the lyrics, made notes, listened to each original version twice and then it was up to me to make each song my own,” On the plus side, doing them on the fly meant I wouldn’t over think them and try to be too perfect. It was my time to own this style, and Vince and this iconic band were relieved and happy h with my delievery. I thought, this is what Ella Fitzgerald must have felt like when she was in a room with the greatest musicians of her era. Just as they knew she could bring the goods, this band respected me. Listening back, I realized that every song Vince chose that day was the right one for me. It’s like we opened to what the universe brought and let it flow.”
In addition to touring with major artists, Wendy set the stage for her emergence as a bona fide country artist with numerous live performances in Music City over the past few years. She made her debut at the Grand Ole Opry in April 2019 and played three more times there before a showcase at 3rd & Lindsley, one of Nashville’s premier live venues, for the release of I’ve Got You Covered in February 2020. During this time, she also headlined on the Opry stage at the Bonnaroo Music Festival. In 2018 and 2019, Wendy was a featured artist in the Country Music Hall of Fame Museum’s Musician’s Spotlight series. Last year, Gill invited her to become a the 11th member of the Grammy award winning western swing band The Time Jumpers – a institution launched by the town’s top studio musicians in 1998 - at their weekly sold-out shows at 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville. In the fall, no less than James Taylor. Brian May and Steve Lukather (Toto) showed up on different nights because of the bands amazing reputation.
Known affectionately in various industry circles as “The Voice,” the multi-talented Memphis born performer launched her career with a self-titled 1992 EMI album that included the ballad “Come In Out Of The Rain,” which reached the Top 5 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart and later hit the Top Ten on the UK singles chart. The singer opened for Michael Bolton on his North American stadium tours and became popular in Japan when she performed sold-out concerts at the famed Budokan, hosted by David Foster. After several more well received albums (including one produced by Foster), Wendy diversified and launched a new phase of her career recording guest duets with Michael McDonald (“No Love To Be Found”), Kirk Whalum (“All I Do”), Peabo Bryson (“My Gift Is You”), Larry Carlton (“I Still Believe”) and Julio Iglesias (“Just Walk Away”), the latter whom she toured with for over 15 years.
Moten’s most recent album prior to I’ve Got You Covered was a contemporary jazz set titled Timeless: Wendy Moten Sings Richard Whiting

Jo Nagle (AKA Ay Nine and a myriad of other nick names) is a multi-faceted artist, expressing the circus in her head through music, video, photo, writing, drawing and painting.
She lives her life with the consciousness of just how finite it is. She does not take the joys for granted and doesn’t take the pains too seriously. She is still only human though, and would never suggest she is anything but. (Though it has been brought to her attention by others that she might be from another world…)
Jo’s number 1 passion is music and she has been fortunate enough to dig roots into some of the greatest musically influenced cities in the world, Seattle and Los Angeles. She passionately pursues music as a performer, but also works closely with many other artists on a business level to help drive them toward success.
Moving around a lot as a child and continuing that trend into adulthood, Jo has seen the world and considers herself a “TCK” or “World Citizen”. She credits her travel and living experience for giving her a very open-minded approach to life and art and would encourage everyone to take a step outside their comfort zone just to see what it’s like.
The purpose of this website is to consolidate and showcase Jo’s many projects. If you love music please check out the “music” section. If you love watching videos you can visit her YouTube Channel or the “Ay Nine” page. We hope you find something you love and are inspired to create, grow, laugh, cry, and dance. Welcome.
*Jo wrote this biography herself, but felt silly writing about “me” and decided third person was more acceptable and not nearly as silly.*
