Please join us in welcoming back to Chickie Wah Wah the legendary Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham for our annual Fest-o-Matic series.    Dan is quite possibly the greatest writer in the history of Soul music.  He wrote or co-wrote the Dark End of the Street, Do Right Woman Do Right Man, I’m Your Puppet, Cry Like a Man and more – the list goes on and on.  His longtime songwriting partner and incredible piano player Spooner Oldham (who played with the Muscle Schoals Rhythm Section, Neil Young’s band and the Drive-by-Truckers), is another songwriting legend who was recently inducted into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame, the latest of many accolades in his career.   Last year’s show was one of the highlights of Jazzfest.  It still gives me chills and if you were there you know what I mean.  They play this year on Wednesday, April 30th at 8pm, and will be followed by a separate show by young Patterson Hood whose history with them both goes back to his childhood.  That should be a very cool night of music, so get your tickets to that show also while you are at it!  Don’t miss your chance to see this pair of American music legends.
