Winners of the 2010 Canadian Folk Music Award for Vocal Group of the Year, Amanda Walther and Sheila Carabine of Dala create angelic harmonies. Performing a mix of beguiling, pop-inflected originals and intriguing interpretations of others' tunes, the two charm listeners with their trademarked lush harmonies.
Amanda and Sheila met in their high school music class in Ontario in 2002; they have since released five albums and toured extensively across North America. They’ve had notable performances at The New Orleans Jazz Festival, The Edmonton Folk Festival, and the Strawberry Music Festival, and, in 2010, as the subjects of the PBS television special, Girls From The North Country. The live CD of the concert portion of the special earned Dala their Canadian Folk Music Award, as well as a Juno Award nomination for Roots and Traditional Album of the Year.
