Originally from Rochester, New York, Cusp makes '90s-indebted indie rock that's by turns thrashing and mesmerizing, yet always thoroughly attuned to the anxieties and paradoxes of modern life. After releasing a debut EP, 2021's Spill, and a single with Fire Talk Records, Cusp members Jen Bender (guitar, vocals), Gaelen Bates (guitar), and Matt Manes (bass) relocated to Chicago in 2022. There, the band immediately found its place among the city's diverse and close-knit independent music scene. The change of scenery inspired a generative period for the band, resulting in Cusp's debut full-length, 2023's You Can Do It All. Cusp's latest release, 2024's Thanks So Much EP, continues to refine the band's mix of thundering riffs, exploratory impulses, and exquisite melodies - its influences from across heavy rock, indie-pop, and shoegaze on full display. The band has recently grown to also include members Tommy Moore (drums) and Tessa O'Connell (keyboards, vocals)
