With live performances, DJ’s, a pop-up mercado, and dance lessons, it is a celebration of Latin American cultural heritage and an opportunity to come together and honor our deceased friends and relatives in the tradition of Día de Muertos. This year’s lineup includes artists and DJ’s such as Terror/Cactus, Lobo Lara, Albina Cabrera (KEXP’s El Sonido), Rizoma, Exesive, and Desmadrina Soundsystem, as well as cumbia dance lessons by Cumbia Libre and artwork by Victor Melendez. Cumbia is a popular form of song and dance throughout Latin America, and while it takes on different styles in different countries, it is a shared form of cultural expression that brings people together. Cumbia de Muertos II showcases artists and DJ’s from a broad range of Latin American cultural backgrounds including Mexico, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, and Bolivia. Cumbia de Muertos II will take place at Tractor Tavern and Percy’s & Co on the night of October 31st, from 7PM to 1AM. The artwork for Cumbia de Muertos II was created by Victor Melendez, a Mexican-American artist who is known for his colorful murals, concert posters, and most recently his piñata stamp set for the United States Postal Service.
