Raised a proud Razorback in Little Rock, Arkansas, Matt Besser attended Amherst College where he learned how to collect CDs. After graduating, Matt toured the Midwest doing stand-up, while taking improvisation direction from Del Close at Chicago’s Improv Olympic Theater. In Chicago in 1991, he was a founding member of the sketch group Upright Citizens Brigade, and with them he has performed and written such stage shows as “Saigon Suicide Squad” winner of Best Sketch at 1996 U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. Besser’s stand up albums include: “May I Help You Dumbass?” , and “Woo Pig Sooie!”, and “The 6 Most Important Sets in the History of Standup”, and “Besser Breaks the Record” which was also filmed as a special for Seeso. As an improviser he was a member of Chicago’s “The Family” and is forever a member of “Asssscat” the UCB Theater’s long-running flagship improv show.
In 1996 the UCB moved to NYC and produced their sketch show “Upright Citizens Brigade” for three seasons (’98 – 2000) on Comedy Central. In fall of 2005 the UCB premiered their improv show “Asssscat: Improv” on Bravo. In 2008, another Assscat special was filmed at the UCB Theater in LA and premiered on Comedy Central.
With the success of their tv shows, the UCB opened their own comedy theater and improv school which operates two theaters in NYC, and two in LA.
After the UCB tv show , Matt teamed up with Method Man & Redman to create and perform in a hidden camera show on MTV called “Stung”. He was creator and star of “Crossballs” which ran 23 episodes on Comedy Central; “This Show Will Get You High” on Comedy Central; and also created and starred in “The Very Funny Show” for TBS.com. Besser has guest starred is such sitcoms as “Parks & Recreation”, “Modern Family”, “New Girl”, “Children’s Hospital”; “Bernie Mac Show”, “Frasier”, “Fresh Off the Boat”; “Drunk History”, “Comedy Bang Bang”, and featured in the movies: “Freak Dance”, “Year One”, “Walk Hard: the Dewey Cox Story”, “Drill Bit Taylor”; “The TV Set”, “Bad Teacher”, “Wild Girls Gone”, Sundance Film Festival favorite “Junebug”; and co-star of zombie western “Wanted: Undead or Alive”.
Along with Ian Roberts and Matt Walsh, he is the author of “The Upright Citizens Brigade Comedy Improvisation Manual”. He wrote & co-directed the film musical “Freak Dance” and epic podcast projects like “Estates of Perfection”, “My Dead Wife, the Robot Car”, and the punk rock musical “Stolen Idea” all on Stitcher Premium, Spotify, SiriusXM.

Jon Gabrus is an actor, writer, and comedian. Jon most recently shot an episode of the new POP TV sketch series HOT DATE for College Humor’s Brian Murphy and Emily Axford, executive produced by Big Breakfast and Principato Young. He previously appeared in THE 5th QUARTER for Verizon Go90 and had a small role in GAME OVER, MAN! Opposite Adam Devine, Anders Holm and Blake Anderson for Point Grey and Netflix. He previously wrapped production on the Comedy Central pilot THE COUCH, for which he was the host. He was last seen opposite Alison Brie, John C. Reilly and Dave Franco in THE LITTLE HOURS written and directed by Jeff Baena which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival. Previously, Jon recurred on TVLand’s YOUNGER and Hulu’s REAL HOTWIVES OF LAS VEGAS. He has guest starred on ABC’s HAPPY ENDINGS, IFC’s COMEDY BANG BANG, Comedy Central’s WORKAHOLICS, and Adult Swim’s NEWSREADERS. Jon also hosted MTV’s THE SUBSTITUTE, TruTV’s HAIRJACKED, TruTV’s SANTAS IN THE BARN. Jon also developed with Comedy Central multiple times for himself to star and last year developed with ABCS/FBC with Adam Pally and Paul Lieberstein.
On the feature side, Jon Gabrus can be seen in the indie darling FOURTH MAN OUT. He has previously appeared alongside Ben Walker in HBO’s MUHAMMAD ALI’S GREATEST FIGHT and in FLOCK OF DUDES. Also, he was the lead in the Yahoo Comedy THE FUZZ and in the SXSW breakout comedy AWFUL NICE.
He can regularly be seen dispensing his comedic wit on MTV2’s hit shows “Guy Code,” “Girl Code,” and “Wild N Out.” Furthermore, Jon has written for College Humor, ComedyCentral.com and the Spike TV “Video Game Awards.” Jon can be seen performing weekly at UCBLA with “ASSSSCAT” or heard on his podcast “High and Mighty.”
