    Alternative Rock

CocoRosie is an American musical group formed in 2003 by sisters Bianca "Coco" and Sierra "Rosie" Casady. The sisters were born and raised in the United States, but formed the band in Paris after meeting for the first time in years. Their music has been called "freak folk", and incorporates elements of pop, blues, electronica, and hip-hop.

CocoRosie began as a duo, with Sierra singing, playing the guitar, piano and harp, and Bianca singing and manipulating various children's toys, electronic and percussion instruments, as well as other exotic noisemakers. They subsequently added various backing musicians, usually a bassist, keyboardist, and beatboxer. They have been a very active touring group, playing across Europe, the United States, and elsewhere.

Antony and the Johnsons is a music group presenting the work of Antony Hegarty and his collaborators. British experimental musician David Tibet of Current 93 heard a demo and offered to release Antony's music through his Dutro label. Antony started the band, its name inspired by the transgender rights activist Marsha P. Johnson. The debut album, Antony and The Johnsons, was released in 1998. In 2001, Hegarty released a short follow-up EP, I Fell in Love with a Dead Boy, which, in addition to the title track, included a cover of "Mysteries of Love", a David Lynch/Angelo Badalamenti song and "Soft Black Stars", a Current 93 cover.

As much a theatrical troupe as a band, New York's VHOKB (named in homage to the B-movie scream queen) mixed their punk roots with elements of vaudeville, psychotronic films, and burlesque shows to arrive at their signature shock rock identity
