Since they got back together in 2019 it seemed like teenage dreams were coming true. First they played John Waters’ bday party, then toured with Bikini Kill, got to open for The B-52s at their fave festival and started recording their 1st album since 2013. They never would have guessed that it would end up taking 5 years to complete. Or that they would soon be going through some very brutal times - a tragic death, a global pandemic and being impacted by one of CA's worst wildfires in history. Which brings us to NOW. Now is finally the time, In Aug, Hunx and His Punx officially released their first album in 12 years, Walk Out On This World. It’s their first with Get Better Records, a label the band is excited to be working with due to their focus on queer and trans artists. The end of the world is near and it’s filled with wild boys, rainy days, bad thoughts, death and grief, white lipstick, and doing acid alone in Hollywood. “If it’s the end of the world, I want to have some fun”. These definitely feel like end times. Like if you painted the beatles with a rattle can and wax pencil. Slippers’ last record was entitled “Do You Like Slippers?” More aptly it should have been “Do You Like Pop Music?” Because if the answer is no to either then what are we even doing here? In addition to being a longtime drummer who also performs in Le Pain and has previously played in Yucky Duster, BB’s other passion is animation, and the start of Slippers coincides with her time studying that trade in grad school at CalArts. The band began in earnest in BB’s current home of LA, her love of animation and music go back to her childhood in Atlanta. Powerhouse of pop, this Karen Carpenter incarnate is fresh off opening slots for The Lemon Twigs, Snocaps, and a rough trade 7" -If you aren't humming this after two listens are you even alive?  DJ Mister Sister DJ Mister Sister (marcus wilson) has been committing dance-related crimes for close to 2 decades. A fan of many genres & styles, but mostly partial to punk that you can get down to. He has thrown multiple iconic Seattle  club nights (Comeback, Ruff Gemz, Pho Bang, Bloodlust) and has DJd with such nightlife luminaries as Lady Miss Kier, Larry Tee, Peaches, and Miss Guy.
