The Rose of Battle is the new album project by Irish-Austrian bassist and composer Ciara Moser, blending the storytelling traditions of Irish folk music with the energy, spontaneity, and harmonic richness of modern jazz.
Inspired by the poetry of W. B. Yeats, Patrick Kavanagh, and Antoine Raftery, the music weaves together soaring melodies, improvisation, groove-driven compositions, and the distinctive sounds of the Irish tradition. Performed by an international ensemble of musicians who first met at Berklee College of Music, The Rose of Battle explores themes of identity, heritage, resilience, and artistic freedom.
This special CD release concert celebrates the launch of Moser's highly anticipated new album, featuring guest appearances on the recording by Nate Smith, Chris Potter, Irish flute legend Michael McGoldrick, and Nicole McCabe. The performance also kicks off the project's East Coast release tour, bringing this unique fusion of Irish and contemporary jazz traditions to audiences across the region.
