It was on a tour stop through Florence, Alabama in 2022 when Chrissi Poland decided she needed to return and make a record in Muscle Shoals. Stopping through Fame Studios to take the tour, being in the room where some of the greatest soul records were ever made, Chrissi experienced an emotional and visceral reaction. “I could feel the vibrations of Aretha, and Etta in the room. I could feel the magic in the Wurlitzer that Spooner Oldham played when he created the famed opening riff to Never Loved A Man….So many of these songs shaped my brain as a singer, a writer. Above all, the feeling is what I connect to most deeply. Soul music isn’t just a genre, but more so an experience of human emotion. It demands that you be raw, real and connected if you’re going to do it. That’s why I’ve always been called to it.” Chrissi is now recording a full album of music that celebrates the songs and soul recorded in Muscle Shoals, AL in the 1960s and 70s… and is bringing the project to New York City for the first time on November 11th, 2025! With producer/drummer Jay Tooke on board for the live show, the band will showcase much of the music appearing on the forthcoming album Forever Muscle Shoals. Chrissi has brought her vocal power and interpretation to songs from Aretha Franklin, Etta James, Wilson Pickett, Cher, Bob Dylan, and more.
