  • Chris Trapper

    Chris Trapper

    Singer-Songwriter

CHRIS TRAPPER began his career as the front man for late-90’s alternative rock band THE PUSH STARS (Capitol Records). With four CD releases and several high profile national tours -- including a run with Matchbox Twenty -- The Push Stars served to establish Chris as an authentic talent.
As a modern day singer /songwriter, Chris is most known for his song This Time, the #1 selling song on the Grammy nominated soundtrack for AUGUST RUSH (Robin Williams, Jonathan Rhys Meyers /Warner Bros Pictures).

The newest CD (released October 2011), The Few & The Far Between, is a collection of 14 songs written and performed by Chris Trapper. This new work was Produced, Recorded and Mixed by Dan McLoughlin (The Push Stars, Mike Peters, Juliana Hatfield) at the Vault Recording Studio, Hoboken, NJ.

Focus tracks include the CD opener, Here All Along, featuring guest vocals by Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty, The More I Think featuring vocals and slide guitar by Colin Hay of Men at Work and Ghost In Your Arms featuring backing vocals from Boston’s own Kristen Cifelli.

The New York Times calls his work “classic pop perfection.”

A prolific songwriter, Chris can boast high profile film placements including There's Something About Mary (Ben Stiller, Cameron Diaz), The Devil Wears Prada (Meryl Streep), Say It Isn’t So (Heather Graham) and Gun Shy (Sandra Bullock, Liam Neeson) as well as significant television placements including All My Children, Women's Murder Club, Malcolm In The Middle, a coveted placement in George Clooney's final episode of ER, the theme song for WB Networks dramedy Pepper Dennis and a cameo on-screen appearance with the show's star, Rebecca Romjin.

Chris Trapper’s music can best be described as lyrically driven roots-pop with a knack for telling everyday stories filled with extra-ordinary characters.

A respected songwriter of the highest caliber, Chris has written 7 songs with/for Canadian band GREAT BIG SEA, including their #1 single "Sea Of No Cares" from the certified-platinum Sea Of No Cares CD. Great Big Sea covered Trapper's song "Everything Shines” and their version served as the debut single off their certified-gold Road Rage CD album. Chris’ songwriting collaborations with Great Big Sea earned him two prestigious SOCAN awards. Rob Thomas of Matchbox Twenty and Antigone Rising have performed other notable versions of Trapper's songs.

Chris Trapper’s ability to craft songs that are both elegant and accessible is evident on each solo CD in his deep Discography. There is a smart, honest quality to the lyrics that never panders.

Trapper’s live show is a favorite among fans of alt–acoustic music. His on–stage persona is warm and inclusive, his organic understanding of classic pop melody infectious. Audience members seem to particularly appreciate the lighthearted moments with the ukulele. They depart the venue at the end of the evening with the sense of having been truly entertained.

“It’s an incredibly rare musician, particularly in the world of popular music, who is able to forge a career based on quiet dignity and steadfast integrity."

    Mary Scholz

    Singer-Songwriter

Born in Havertown, PA and currently based in Los Angeles, CA, Singer/Songwriter Mary Scholz’s music is sweeping the nation with its heartfelt melodies and lyrics.
Mary’s voice resonates with a clarity and emotion that engages her listeners from the first note. Singing since the age of four and writing since the age of fourteen, Mary’s music is a blend of lyric folk & pop/rock with a bittersweet twist that puts her in a category of her own.

What interests people and draws them in is the clear, warm
lyrical style of Mary’s voice. Self-accompanied on guitar and piano, her voice is what she always claims as her main instrument and one she understands and owns with pride. Vocally and musically, Mary is frequently compared to Carole King, Alison Krauss, Norah
Jones, Amy Grant and the Indigo Girls.

On the stage, Mary communicates as if she’s sitting having coffee with you – connecting with her audience with an ease that has people feeling as if they’ve known her for years and reminds everyone that there is no separation between us. Just two people sharing stories, and that’s exactly what her songs are: Stories of life, love, loss and hope.

Mary has spent the past seven years touring the country in her Mazda 3 with nothing but a guitar and a tip jar, performing at coffee shops, music venues, & large festivals. She spent these tours promoting her three independently produced and released EPs and Live Album, all released on her own indie record label, Ringlet Records. Mary recently finished recording her first full-length album, The Girl You Thought You Knew, released February 18th, 2014. The fist single from The Girl You Thought You Knew is entitled “Bridges We Burn.” The single and video for “Bridges We Burn” were released December 11, 2013 and December 17, 2013, respectively. Mary’s The Girl You Thought You Knew Tour kicks-off in the spring of 2014. Mary will be on the road for three months, re-visiting some of the country’s prestigious songwriter venues and introducing herself to new cities along the way. “I write about things that matter to me – things that are close to my heart. It’s my hope that through music we can connect to one another, to better understand that we are all alike and that no one is alone.” – MS
