When musicians Zee Phoenix and Ronnie Williams met in 2014, the chemistry was undeniable - both on and off the stage. They formed the duo Chasing Phoenix and began playing local bars and open mic nights. With Zee on vocals and Ronnie on guitar/vocals, their unique musical style built a following in and around Charleston, South Carolina.

After getting married in 2020, the duo moved to Mooresville, North Carolina, where they picked up Tim Vaughan on bass guitar, Malory Schultz on bg vocs & keys, along with Chris Bird on percussion/bg vocals. The modern-day Chasing Phoenix rose. They play original music, as well all an eclectic mix of covers including old-school and modern country, pop, soul, classic rock, and a little bit of shag (if you know, you know).

Since their inception, Chasing Phoenix has powered into the local mainstream performing a vast array of music on the ever expanding local scene.

Corey Stevenson is a singer songwriter that grew up in a small town called Man, West Virginia. His Father Michael Stevenson was a coal miner who worked hard to support two kids and a wife. His mother Laurice Stevenson was a stay at home mom and made sure the kids were raised with the best of care.

Corey started playing music at the age of 9 years old right after tragedy struck. Being into sports up until then, a hip injury made Corey unable to play sports anymore. He played drums for a year before his dad bought a guitar for them to “jam together”. As soon as Corey heard the sound of the guitar he knew what he wanted to do. He would work to learn chords while his dad was working.

He quickly picked up songs while listening to bands such as Lynyrd Skynyrd, Gov’t Mule, and Allman Brothers. Corey played his first show at the age of 11 at a venue called The Coalfield Jamboree. Soon after he joined a band called Cold Harbor, and began touring the east coast.

At age 15 he was heard by producer Noel Golden, who was working with Edwin McCain at OMG Entertainment where Corey auditioned, and was accepted into the prestigious Greenville Fine Arts Center where young Stevenson was called a prodigy. While going to school Corey wrote songs for many artists, and played local venues.

At age 17 Corey was given the Music Leader Scholarship for $15,000 to attend Newberry College where he played with acts such as Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey, and Wycliffe Gordon. Corey attended Newberry for two years while writing songs and working on his craft. He knew that he wasn’t destined to be a teacher, so he left to pursue his actual dream. Corey then started the Corey Stevenson Band and toured several towns before signing a deal with Country Roads Records, and a management deal with Beverly Gosdin.

Corey recorded with guitarist Brent Mason (who said “Corey is a great guitarist”) , Pianist Buddy Hyatt, Lonnie Wilson, and Donnie Duncan, on a Merle Haggard song called “Workin Man Blues”. It will be released to YouTube April, 2024.

Corey is now an independent artist and has been at the top of several. independent charts. He was nominated for songwriter of the year, male vocalist of the year, and song of the year on the Josie Music Awards. He also had 10 of the most requested songs on 96.5 WXCC over Chris Stapleton, Luke Combs, and more. Corey in his lifetime has opened up for acts such as, Zach Myers, Bucky Covington, Big Smo, and will be opening for Upchurch in July among several others.
