About Charnett Moffett:
An artist with an unusual abundance of spirit, chops, and charisma, Moffett has released seventeen acclaimed albums and toured the world as one of the most innovative and versatile acoustic and electric bassists in jazz. He debuted as a leader on Blue Note Records in 1987 and after stints with other labels through the years, he found a creative home in the Motéma label in 2008 where he's released nine acclaimed albums and is now working on the 10th and 11th. Moffett's recording career began as an 8-year-old prodigy in his father Charles Moffett’s band and went on to build an illustrious jazz resume, working with such pivotal artists as Art Blakey, Ornette Coleman, Wynton Marsalis, McCoy Tyner, Tony Williams, Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock... appearing on more than 200 albums, many considered classics. In 2012 he began a richly fruitful musical collaboration with Motema's founder, the singer/songwriter/producer Jana Herzen. Together they've collaborated on a dozen acclaimed recordings and have toured internationally.
