Robert Lockwood Jr., was born on March 27th in Turkey Scratch Arkansas in 1915 and died in Cleveland in 2006 at 91. His stepfather was Robert Johnson, who taught him to play. Lockwood recorded with Chess Records and toured internationally. DC Carnes played guitar in the Lockwood All Star Band which was a fixture every Wednesday night at Fat Fish Blue for years. Beachland partner Nick Amster was a big supporter of Lockwood and prior to his passing in 2020 and COVID, there was always an annual Lockwood birthday celebration in our ballroom. We are grateful to DC Carnes and Steve Blu for bringing this night of blues back.
