Way down! Guitarist, composer and producer Chance Hayden digs deep to unearth Baritone Gold, spotlighting a guitar rarity and new batch of 60s inspired instrumentals that feel like lost tapes of the Wrecking Crew. While retaining his flexible jazz approach, Hayden’s works yield vibrant echoes of surf rock, beat music and Memphis soul: a resounding example set by Booker T. Jones with whom Hayden recently shared the stage. The seldom-featured baritone guitar extends downward, half way into bass guitar range and has most often been employed as an auxiliary instrument in wide-spanning genres from country to metal. Wherever it turns up, the deep growl and sparkly top-end always turn heads which Hayden reveals in full force with Clay Giberson (Hammond B-3 organ), Russ Blake (lap steel & rhythm guitar), Jason Palmer (drums) and special guest Sean Holmes (baritone vocals).
