Drizzled in fantasy and space glitter, Baltimore’s CELEBRATION is exactly what you’d expect in it’s name, a grandiose party with swagger and sass to match. With a new LP, Wounded Healer released off British independent record label Bella Union earlier this summer, CELEBRATION has been relentlessly touring through much of Europe and North America. Stemming from a high school makeout sesh more than twenty years ago, front woman Katrina Ford has been playing in bands with now husband Sean Antanaitis ever since. CELEBRATION has been the culmination of years of loving and collaborating together for Ford and Antanaitis and is now approaching it’s final form of sonic enlightenment. Get intimate and join this augmented adventure-pop trio as you fall down the rabbit hole and release all inhibitions. CELEBRATION will undoubtedly have you leaving the party soaked in serenity.
Local five-piece I KONG KULT climb their way up the ladder after a three-year hiatus. They return with a funky and soul heavy album, WARNINGS, which was recorded at Wilco’s loft in 2013 with Wayne Montana (Eternals) mixing the record and implementing his smooth yet impenetrable guitar work on top. The end result has I KONG KULT lurking in every corner of your head, kicking your brain back and forth until you start realizing the only thing left to do is dance.
Chicago's HOBBYIST might be a duo, but the band’s energy definitely makes em seem a lot bigger than those britches can handle. Formed in Chicago in January of 2013, MARC MOZGA works the drum machines, bass and melodica and HOLLY sings her damn heart out like the world's about to end... will tonight be the night?? Only you can find out.
