Early on in 2010, Daniel Quinn and Mike Sweeney(Deformed, Wrapped In Pale) struggled to leave their mark on a vastly changing music scene. Though still raw in its expression, Bear Cavalry underwent frequent lineup changes and nearly dissolved before dropping its first EP. Several months later, the project began anew with Cave Moth. In its larval stages, Cave Moth went through its own lineup issues, struggling to find musicians that could execute the technical and unorthodox rudiments with which the music demanded. While the band has fallen into hiatus several times, Cave Moth has managed to complete a single, 1 EP, countless noise releases, and 2 small tours of the East Coast, branching through such major cities as Savannah, Columbus (SC), Baltimore, Philadelphia, and New York City.
Cave Moth focuses on writing music that can be described in many aspects as "otherworldly". Pulling influences from traditional metal, grind, jazz and various other progressive styles, the band has established an uncanny sound that will surprise you with an eclectic barrage of A-Rhythmic off time riffs that will jolt as much as soothe. After some experimentation, The Moth dug deeper into their sound and incorporated noise and free jazz influences; which are impossible to predict and add another layer of chaos to a sound that borders dangerously on psychadelia . The undertaking, in their words, hopes to “offer everything that is intrinsic to music, art, and sound; an adventure into a wierdo-metal world full of dissonance, fast changing tempos, and diverse palettes that embrace a new artistic style with every release and a devotion to performances that are atmospherically and psychologically overwhelming.”
