Description
Caropop Live with Michael Shannon   Michael Shannon is one of Chicago’s treasures, an Oscar- and Tony-nominated actor who continues working in his hometown no matter how high his profile rises. He co-founded A Red Orchid Theatre in Old Town and continues to act and direct there. He debuted on screen as the young, about-to-get-married guy in Harold Ramis’s Groundhog Day, and he has turned in standout performances in such movies as Revolutionary Road, Take Shelter, Nocturnal Animals, The Shape of Water and Knives Out. His TV work includes a key role on HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, and he’s currently starring in the Showtime series Waco: The Aftermath. A passionate music fan, Shannon portrayed Elvis Presley in Elvis & Nixon and George Jones on Showtime’s George & Tammy, and on the Space stage, with Jason Narducy and band, he has sung the songs of the Modern Lovers, Neil Young and the Smiths. He’s daring and unpredictable, so all bets are off about where his on-stage conversation with Caropop host Mark Caro will lead. This event will be recorded for the Caropop podcast.   Mark Caro is the host/creator of the Caropop podcast, which features in-depth conversations with musicians, actors, filmmakers and other artists. He is the author of The Foie Gras Wars and The Special Counsel: The Mueller Report Retold and co-author of Take It To the Bridge: Unlocking the Great Songs Inside You and Behind the Laughter: A Comedian’s Tale of Tragedy and Hope. After covering culture at the Chicago Tribune for more than 25 years, he contributes to Chicago magazine, the New York Times and other outlets and is editor of the Medill Local News Initiative website.  Photo by Zach Caddy
