BUSHFIRE was born of a deep desire to create a musical project characterized by a shared understanding of love and radical acceptance. Bursting with ideas and armed with rich, extensive backgrounds playing in bands across the Long Beach/LA DIY punk scene, Ari Bruno (vox), Landon Reed (guitar), Aman Patel (drums), Alex Avak (bass) and Summer Xiro (guitar) are carrying the torch of old-school, in-your-face punk rock—oozing with rock-and-roll roots and riffs—all while making it entirely their own. BUSHFIRE started performing in July 2022 to immediate local buzz; the band booked a west coast tour less than a year after their first show. On January 23, 2023, they released their debut EP, “SOME HOLY SHIT,” both digitally and on tape. Bruno’s fierce wail and larger-than-life stage presence, paired with the band’s meticulous chaos, creates an environment that is wild, cathartic, and free of judgment. Their shows–packed wall-to-wall with punks from all walks of life–are like a celebration, their friends and fans taken with the fervor of being radically oneself. “Rather than falling into the trope of unbalanced aggression that’s typically associated with the punk scene, our goal is to shed positivity while dancing and shaking our demons off,” says Bruno. “[We] love creating an environment where people can dance and smile and forget about the bullshit for at least thirty minutes.”
