Description
Black Americana Fest, Pont:Productions and The Bloom Effect present:  BUDDY RED with DUSKY WATERS ***************************** Emerging singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Buddy Red is a force of nature. On stage, he’s spellbinding — weaving guitar wizardry, buttery vocals, and magnetic sensuality. In the studio, he conjures up raw, cinematic soundscapes that channel the pain, joy, and power of his unique musical experience. Drawing from a wide palette of influences — the psychedelic grandeur of Pink Floyd, the relentless drive of James Brown, the mystique of Jimi Hendrix, and the soul of traditional Delta blues — Buddy’s music is both deeply rooted and boldly modern.  He announced his artist presence with two singles in 2025; the bluesy rock confessional, “Sold His Soul,” and the retro-future homage, “1958.”  Next, he set out on the dusty road, as only blues rockers know how to do, making debut performances at SXSW Austin, MONDO NYC, with Little Richard’s original band at the Tutti Frutti Music Festival, and this year at the Folk Alliance International Conference.   At the core of his artistry is truth-telling. His lyrics confront themes of loss, legacy, and liberation, while his guitar work lands with visceral intensity. A new standout voice in Atlanta’s underground music scene, Buddy has built a reputation for passionate storytelling, electrifying improvisation, and unforgettable stage presence.  He performs his New Orleans debut show tonight, at Gasa Gasa.  “This generation’s Jimi Hendrix? T.I.’s son Buddy Red is charting his own musical legacy as a rock and blues legend.” ~ Revolt TV   ***************************** Dusky Waters is the nom de plume of Jenn Jeffers, a contemporary Americana songwriter and musician whose work bridges the rich musical traditions of the South with a modern, genre-defying sound. As the Executive Director and Co-Founder of Black Americana Fest, she is at the forefront of fostering a more inclusive roots music landscape. Her evocative songwriting and compelling performances have earned critical acclaim, with audiences lauding her ability to craft deeply personal yet universally resonant songs. Reimagining Americana, her music honors tradition while forging a new path that reflects the magic, mourning, and ever-evolving spirit of the South - from her hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas to her new home in New Orleans, Louisiana. Dusky Waters, as a current band based in New Orleans, performs with Analiese De Saw (viola, vocals), Conner McCready (percussion), Hannah Kreiger-Benson (piano, organ), and Nelson Williams (upright bass).
