Description
With this Jazz Standard appearance, Chris and Dan Brubeck mark the start of the centennial year of their father, legendary pianist Dave Brubeck (December 6, 1920–December 5, 2012). The brothers have been making music together practically all their lives, having cut their first record together in 1966. Over the decades, they’ve experimented with various styles in various groups before settling into a solid, still–adventurous groove with guitarist Mike DeMicco and pianist Chuck Lamb in the Brubeck Brothers Quartet. The group paid loving homage to Dave Brubeck on its 2012 album LifeTimes. “The playing that takes place on LifeTimes– the wondrous combination of swing, melodic majesty, masterful arrangements and a truckload of truly inspirational solos – just adds a vibrancy and color to songs I thought I knew and loved on a deep level. It turns out that there was still plenty of depth I could have discovered.” (Michael Jones, Seattle Times)
Chris Brubeck – bass, trombone
Dan Brubeck – drums
Mike DeMicco – guitar
Chuck Lamb – piano
