We first fell in love with Northern California quintet Brown Shoe last month for their folk-rock single “Late Nights.”…With twinkly melodies, softly stampeding percussion and layered vocals, it’s guaranteed to give your afternoon a major music update. – Nylon Magazine
Expressing heartache and loss through grand, daring musical compositions, “Diving Bell” is a song that’s easy to play over and over again. “Diving Bell,” from Brown Shoe’s fourth studio album The Gift Horse, is an great introduction to the band’s sun-soaked sound. – Magnet
So says a newly indoctrinated fan. WYATT is (also) the new project of celebrated NYC singer/songwriter Maddy Wyatt. What began as the solo effort of Miss Wyatt has morphed into a collaborative adventure with brothers Paul and Alex Wyatt, bassist Zach Lane, and keyboardist Dana Haynes. Since the release of their debut EP last summer, WYATT has toured all over the Southwest, played festivals from SXSW to CMJ, and earned kudos from the likes of NYC’s The Deli Magazine, The L.A. Examiner, and TimeOutNewYork, who says “their lack of pretension and simple melodies are reminiscent of Mirah.” WYATT aims to make you move your bod and sing along. The songs on this EP are the closest yet they’ve come. Vive la WYATT!
Rorie Kelly is a small redheaded tornado of sound. First-time listeners often comment, "I can't believe that voice came out of that body." rorie writes catchy, melodic rock songs that she plays with enough passion to break guitar strings--and go right on playing without batting an eye. The singer/songwriter has been compared to artists ranging from Fiona Apple to Janis Joplin to Liz Phair. She has opened for Alix Olsen and Jen Chapin, and was named one of Long Island's "Top Ten Indie Artists You've Never Heard Of" by Pulse Magazine.
Raised in a small town with eight hundred or so people, no streetlights & a bowl cut. Made way to the bigger towns, met some people who saw past that bowl cut. They offered to make my records & helped in ways that I won't be able to repay for years. Got a haircut. It's been a mixed bag since then.
