Americana
For her third album, Rattlin’ Bones, Bronwyn, a Grammy-winning Americana/bluegrass artist and two-time IBMA “Fiddle Player of the Year,” decided to purposely leave her comfort zone and dive headfirst into a new, unknown realm of possibility for the musician — songwriting.
With her former group, Molly Tuttle & Golden Highway, dissolving amicably last year, the window of opportunity opened up for Bronwyn to pursue her own artistic endeavors, under the bright stage lights and in the recording booth. On Rattlin’ Bones, she has dug deep within to finally uncover and embrace her unique talents and sonic tones.
Co-produced by Bronwyn and Brent Truitt (The SteelDrivers) at Truitt’s Nashville studio, and also at the Tractor Shed in nearby Goodlettsville, Rattlin’ Bones features some of Music City’s finest: dobroist Jerry Douglas, guitarist Bryan Sutton, mandolinist Harry Clark, bassists Dennis Crouch and Jeff Picker, banjoist Wes Corbett, drummer Miles Miller, and Bronwyn’s former Golden Highway bandmate, Dominick Leslie, all atop members of her touring group.
The album also features a duet with Nashville’s underground country music hero Timbo, and harmonies provided by songwriting great, Darrell Scott, among others.

Originally from Winchester, Kentucky, Brenna MacMillan began playing banjo at the age of nine. Brenna performed frequently in the Lexington area which led to opening for J.D. Crowe and Bobby Osborne. Attending Berea College, Brenna played with the Bluegrass Ensemble under Al White and was awarded the Red Foley Memorial Music Award in 2018. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Brenna moved to Nashville and started Theo & Brenna Band with her brother Theo. Their full bluegrass band toured for several years, releasing two albums.
As Theo & Brenna Band stepped back from touring in 2022, Brenna began working as a sideman in Nashville playing with various artists and bands locally and touring, including Brennen Leigh, Paul Kramer, Hillary Klug, Greg Garing, Kimberly Perry and more.
Brenna released her debut solo album Dear Life in October of 2024. Her tender songwriting combined with traditional banjo playing brings a fresh sound to singer-songwriter folk and bluegrass alike. Her songs have undertones of West African rhythms, old Kentuckian soil melodies and an innate resonation of storytelling.
