Description
Chop Suey Presents: Blushing
with MØAA and New Age Healers
-------
Blushing (Instagram | Spotify | Bandcamp)
On their recently completed third LP, Sugarcoat (releasing May 3, 2024), Blushing’s dynamism is on full display, flitting effortlessly from spacey psychedelia to twee pop jangle with finesse and panache. Having once again enlisted Ringo Deathstarr's Elliot Frazier and Ride's Mark Gardener for engineering, mixing, and mastering duties, Sugarcoat is a dense, reverb-laden exploration of alt rock’s 40+ year history that conjures up concord from chaos. Whether it’s the post-punk-tinged “Seafoam” (which happens to feature Jeff Schroeder on lead guitar) or the hypnotic psych of “Slyce”, Blushing weaves a cohesive musical arc that effortlessly blends their disparate influences into a sonic watermark that is unmistakably their own.

New Age Healers began in 2015 as a (mostly) solo project by radio producer, guitarist and singer, Owen Murphy with the hope of making great art, building incredible friendships and sharing uplifting experiences - and it worked. After two self produced and published albums (2016's Ghosts and 2017's Where The Tragic Happens), the band expanded to a guitar focused quartet for Debris (2019) with the lineup changing and solidifying during the COVID lockdown for Demolition Stories (2022) and our upcoming EP in 2024.
Now a hardened quintent of Owen Murphy, guitarist Jeramy Koepping (Voyager One, Grand Hallway), bass player Allen Murray (Modern Athletics, The Drop), drummer Adam LeVasseur (Feed) and keyboard player Farkhad Saidmuratov (Kotlovan), the band collaborates with Murphy's prolific songwriting to create something greater than the sum of its parts.
