This is a charity event in honor of our departed friend and bassist, Ben Rougeou. Proceeds go to Pass The Mic, a project of Ethos, a local nonprofit that provides music lessons, multicultural performances, and outreach to thousands of students each year. Pass the Mic is a free program that provides immigrant background youth ages 14 and older with high-quality culturally responsive music education and mentorship by experienced Portland musicians. Students are encouraged to express themselves in front of their peers as they learn new skills and collaborate creatively.
The Bleeding Hearts are a group of seasoned musicians, based in Portland, Oregon, who come together each year, for one night only, to play their annual Valentine’s Day show, The Bleeding Hearts Ball. The Bleeding Hearts Ball, founded in 2013, is a celebration of all aspects of love and its full spectrum of emotions, from true bliss to crushing heartache, with no emotions left untouched. Each year the Bleeding Hearts present a full complement of curated cover tunes originally performed by your favorite musicians in the soul/R&B/pop music genres.
DJ Cotton Candy is a local Portlander who plays a super fun, eclectic, high-energy, funky dance mix.
