BLADE RUNNER: THE FINAL CUT (in 35mm) & ROBOCOP: DIRECTOR'S CUT (4K restoration)
Regular non-senior/student tickets available HERE
Experience two of the greatest science-fiction films of all time on the Castro Theatre’s giant screen in one evening! Ridley Scott’s profound, futuristic neo-noir delivers jaw-dropping Oscar nominated special effects by Douglas Trumbull, Richard Yuricich & David Dryer, while showcasing career-defining performances by Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer and Sean Young. We will be presenting a beautiful 35mm print courtesy of Park Circus (which premiered in 2007 at The Castro Theatre!) Running Time: 117 minutes. Rated R.
The evening’s double bill will be followed by the Director’s Cut of Paul Verhoeven’s subversive sci-fi satire RoboCop. Showcasing a truly legendary performance by Peter Weller as a cyborg policeman attempting to defend old Detroit from criminals high and low. Combining outrageous special effects by Rob Bottin (The Thing) & Stephen Dupuis (The Fly) and an unstoppably hilarious screenplay by Edward Neumeier, come find out why critics hailed this as the smartest science fiction film since Fritz Lang & Thea von Harbou’s Metropolis (1927) as well as who this super-robot-cop is actually fighting for. 4K Director’s Cut DCP is courtesy of Park Circus. Running Time: 103 minutes. Unrated.
Attendees will receive limited edition, handmade screen prints designed by Sofí Caldas (first come, first served!) Admission also includes a very special raffle of prizes, a live pre-show performance by David Hegarty on the Castro organ and a 35mm trailer reel of rare science fiction films.
