Description
Seminal reggae band Black Uhuru formed in 1972 in Kingston Jamaica, and in one form or another, founder Duckie Simpson and the group have now been recording and touring the world for over 50 years. Powered in the 1970s and 80s by the incredible rhythm section Sly and Robbie, they have delivered reggae lovers such classics as I Love King Selassie, Sinsimilla, Sponji Reggae, Solidarity, What is Life, Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, and so many more through the years. They were the first reggae band to win a grammy award for 1983’s Anthem, and they have been nominated for Best Reggae Album or Recording 6 other times. On Friday April 25th at 11pm we are excited and honored to bring the absolutely CRUCIAL sounds of Black Uhuru to Chickie Wah Wah!
