Charlap convenes another outstanding trio, one that combines his potent pianistics with the nonpareil rhythm section of bassist Sean Smith and drummer Bill Stewart. Born in New York City to a professional music family, GRAMMY Award winner Bill Charlap began playing piano at age three. He grew up to perform and record with some of the leading musical artists of our time including Phil Woods, Tony Bennett, Gerry Mulligan, Wynton Marsalis, Freddy Cole and Houston Person. In 2017, the Bill Charlap Trio (with bassist Peter Washington and drummer Kenny Washington) celebrated its twentieth year and is now recognized as one of the leading small groups in jazz. His discography includes the acclaimed Blue Note releases Somewhere: The Songs of Leonard Bernstein and Live at the Village Vanguard, both of which received GRAMMY Award nominations.
