K & B bio- Drummer/composer Barra Brown (Shook Twins, Ages and Ages, Old Wave, The Wishermen) and bassist/beat maker Alex Meltzer (Coco Columbia, Two Planets) construct sample based beat music inspired by classic beatmakers like J. Dilla to more modern/jazz stylings like Robert Glasper and Flying Lotus. Pulling from their backgrounds in jazz, Korgy & Bass move expertly between composed and improvised beats in their live shows. The band pushes the boundaries of what a duo can do with samplers, bass, drums, and two synths and often invite MCs to freestyle during their sets. http://spoti.fi/2wOmZGk

Just Pretend BIO- Just Pretend plays original loop-based music heavily influenced by jazz, minimalism, electronic and trip hop, with a penchant for odd time signatures, catchy melodies and fluid grooves. Vocalist/saxophonist Emily Warden leads the group, fleshed out by the agile, expressive drumming of Darian Anthony Patrick (Portland Kora Project, Fresh Track) and Kyle Merrifield (Tribe Mars) on bass and tenor saxophone. The Portland trio plans to release an EP in December of 2017. https://justpretend.xyz/

VNPRT BIO- Previously VirtuousVice, VNPRT has became a staple contributor to the event scene in Portland. When it comes to his selection of sounds, gumbo comes to mind. The creolization of multiple genres packed into his live sets, leave people satisfied yet unsure of what they've just experienced. It started with himself digging for music at the library which expanded his interest in various genres of music. His influences from a life long study of music include hip hop, (original) trap, house, dance, lounge, soul, funk, r&b, jazz, chill wave and trip hop to name a few. https://soundcloud.com/vnprt

Beat Parlor- Beatparlor.com Hosted by Portland's DJ Survival Skills, Beat Parlor is a compelling mix of the places where Jazz intersects with modern electronic and creative musics, resulting in a relaxing, cerebral experience for listeners. The emphasis here is on the artists "intent" for their music to possess the ideas or the feeling of Jazz, but not straight-ahead "Jazz."
