Songstress of songs and New York native, Beach Angel (aka Kate O'Brien) is a singer-songwriter based in New Orleans. Her first single, “Good Morning” was released in November of 2018 and she has been relentlessly writing and recording her music since. She performs a solo stripped-down acoustic set and plays trio with her electric guitar, a drummer and bassist for a more rocky, bedroom pop, dreamy, indie-rock sound. Her music is on all streaming platforms and is available for purchase on Bandcamp under “Beach Angel”. With influences including Liz Phair, Angel Olsen, Fiona Apple, Courtney Barnett and anything Beatles-inspired, Beach Angel admires and embraces various genre and style. She still considers herself a “baby artist with a constantly developing sound” as she’s only been writing music seriously for 3 years. After spending her time in college at Loyola University New Orleans interspersed with extensive trips backpacking in Europe, she found her love for music extended beyond as a listener. Originally studying Music Industry Studies to master the business side of arts, she quickly realized she had a love for performing herself. Throughout her time off traveling, she began to practice her stage presence abroad at open mics. Upon graduating in December 2019, she decided she was going to put everything she possibly could into building her career as an artist. While employed as a pedicab driver in the New Orleans French Quarter during the pandemic, Beach Angel took advantage of all possible musical opportunities. She formed a duo with a fellow biking musician, creating a new project, “Pedicabber”. She released her latest single, “Smooth Syrup” on Valentine’s day 2021 and produced her first music video “Friday Night Call Me” which came out last month. She teamed up with New Orleans videographer Opus Mercury and is in the process of creating another already. She hosted and participated in many live-streams with fellow musicians and was able to play a handful of outdoor, COVID-safe shows including her first music festival debut at Fete Du Void in Oakdale, LA. Beach Angel will be releasing Peddicabber’s first EP: “Music To Makeout To” with its first single being “(I Miss) Making Out With Strangers” in June 2021. While she continues to bicycle tourists around and collaborate in the New Orleans music scene, she will be regularly releasing more music and playing live locally and safely.
