The New Millennium Orchestra, led by Francesco Milioto, delves into its 10th anniversary season with a one-night only production of Bartok’s Bluebeard’s Castle at Thalia Hall, followed by an after-party featuring DJ DoJo.
Described as "one of the best additions to the city's scene" by Time Out Chicago, the New Millennium Orchestra debuts in Thalia Hall with Bartok's chilling psychological thriller Bluebeard's Castle. Featuring world-renowned bass Andrea Silvestrelli and acclaimed American soprano Kara Shay Thomson, the hour-long, one-act opera follows Bluebeard and his curious young wife, Judith, as she reveals the dark secrets of her new castle. Chicago's own rising star director Joanie Schultz will create the production, and NMO's music director Francesco Milioto will lead the elite 58-piece ensemble. Expect to see the stars of this opera singing anywhere but on the stage, as Thalia Hall's castle-like resemblance makes it the perfect set for this deranged story!
Following the performance, the hall will transform from opera set to dance floor as NMO’s own DoJo DJs an after-party complete with dancing, drinks, and a chance to meet and mingle with the musicians.
For those wanting a chance to get to know the stars of the opera, including the soloists, music director, and stage director, NMO will host an exclusive private reception in Thalia immediately following the performance.
