With a scope of influences and interests far and wide, Syracuse’s Barroom Philosophers are anything but ordinary. Known for their eclectic sound and electrifying stage presence, the quintet has quickly developed a cult following from Upstate New York and beyond. Founded in 2015, Barroom Philosophers manifested in humble fashion. In dimly lit beer halls, they cut their teeth playing a wildly diverse catalog - reaching from Trojan Records-era reggae, vintage blues, funk, and Floydian psychedelic, all while honing their individual craft. Soon the group began finding local success, and saw themselves playing alongside the likes of Dirty Heads, the Strumbellas, John Brown’s Body, Eric Tessmer, Giant Panda Guerrilla Dub Squad, and Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, just to name a few.
Noteworthy is Barroom Philosophers’ voracious appetite for playing live, with over 200 shows under their belt within three years of existence. Currently, the group is underway writing their sophomore follow-up effort after their debut record, Barroom Philosophers, which nabbed the 2018 SAMMY for Best Jam Band recording. You can expect Barroom Philosophers to continue pounding pavement throughout the Northeast and the Midwestern United States - but always, always, expect the unexpected.
