With a stunningly powerful voice and a gift for vivid storytelling, 23-year-old barrett brings refreshing authenticity and emotion to his art. Tapping into the spirit of the Blue Ridge mountains and taking cues from the likes of Zach Bryan and The Lumineers, the Boone, North Carolina native carries with him the torch of the rich folk traditions of Appalachia. When a home-produced video of his song “White Laced Gown” went viral last year, barrett marked himself as one to watch. A year later, barrett launched the song across streaming platforms, receiving thousands of plays within days. Blending traditional Americana songwriting styles with modern indie-folk flair, the song has enchanted audiences with its gut wrenching tale of a love hard fought for and sorely lost. Recently, barrett released his Evan Honer collaboration, “Evergreen Lover”, and saw the release of the much anticipated Shaboozey and Myles Smith single,“Blink Twice”, co-written by barrett and Sam Westhoff. Now the focus turns to barrett’s debut EP, Appalachian, releasing through AWAL on May 30.
