Join us for a special holiday season show with Aztec Two-Step performing their own classics as well as some of their favorite holiday songs.

A note from Aztec Two-Step: "We are saddened to inform our Aztec Two-Step family and friends of the passing of Neal’s beloved wife Karen. Kind, courageous, generous and warm, she will forever be in our hearts.

Right now, in the short run at least, Neal needs to take a little personal time off but has asked Rex to play their scheduled dates so that Aztec Two-Step can continue on in support of their new CD and their holiday shows. Rex has enlisted some of his dear friends to lend their musical talents in Neal’s absence, and for this show, sitting in with Rex and longtime ATS bassist Fred Holman will be multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter David Buskin of Buskin & Batteau. Over the years, David has sat in with Aztec on occasion and we look forward to having him join the show! "

    Aztec Two-Step

    Alternative Folk

In 1972, Aztec Two-Step, whose name comes from a poem by beat poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti, burst on the scene with their self-titled debut album on Elektra Records. Since then Rex Fowler and Neal Shulman spent a lifetime making music together as the folk/rock duo Aztec Two-Step. Their first album, along with their subsequent albums for RCA Records were staples of progressive FM and college radio and helped to bring the folk/rock music of the 1960s into the 70s and beyond.

Now, after 47 years of recording and touring, Neal is taking an indefinite period of time off after the passing of his beloved wife Karen, and Rex welcomes to the Aztec Two-Step stage Dodie Pettit on vocals, keyboard, acoustic and electric guitars; and Steven "Muddy" Roues on standup bass, blues harp and vocals.

Dodie first entered the Aztec Two-Step picture in 1979 when she played lead guitar and sang on their "Times of Our Lives" album. She went on to have a 15-year career on Broadway in CATS and as an original cast member of Phantom of the Opera.  Muddy, besides playing in Rex’s Elvis Presley band, Rex and the Rockabilly Kings, also performed with the legendary Carl Perkins in the critically acclaimed "The Other Side of Nashville" documentary film, and on occasion performs with Jon Pousette-Dart.

Join Rex, Dodie and Muddy as they perform all the ATS fan favorites - old and new!
