Raised on white bread and neil young, or at least simon and ben were. Seattle lurkin' since 08/2012
Ubu Roi is an all-American rock band formed in the filthiest city on earth, Seattle, in 2011. You can call them whatever you want, Fubu Joy, Booty Noise, The Boobie Boiz, whatever.
Here’s a list of the gear Ubu Roi needs to borrow from other bands before they can play a show: a guitar, for Matt; another guitar, for Chase; a bass guitar, for Sam; and some drums, for Colin. If you ever see four guys pushing gear down the side of the road in a Safeway shopping cart on a Friday night, then hey, give ‘em a shout, because that’s Ubu Roi.
Sam and Colin are the reclusive sort, Matt is a hot guy, and Chase, well, he’s just a chill dude (that’s why the guys in the band call him “Chase Bro”). Ubu Roi could be your next best friend, like your real best friend, like the best friend you have back home.
Ubu Roi ran the Seattle basement and house party scene for a few years after forming in 2011, playing with the likes of White Fang, The Shrine, Wimps, Big Eyes, B-Lines, and a few other reggaeton acts. In 2013, Ubu Roi landed a gig at the Capitol HIll Block Party. Record label narcs from all over the world have been sniffing around Ubu Roi’s riff-heavy shreddage ever since, leaving briefcases full of cocaine at the band’s practice space every weekend.
Here’s a surfing metaphor to help you get your head around how awesome this band is: Your favorite band is nothing but a bunch of ankle-slappers, Ubu Roi is a 100-foot wave.
