Massy Ferguson
Massy Ferguson
Music
Massy Ferguson has long been a staple of the American roots rock scene, expertly blending elements of country twang with hard-charging rock ‘n’ roll. Hailing from Seattle, the band has built a career marked by two decades of sonic exploration, and their seventh album, You Can’t Tell Me I’m Not What I Used To Be, marks the next chapter in their musical evolution.
Where their past records felt like the soundtrack to raucous nights at a dive bar, You Can’t Tell Me I’m Not What I Used To Be ventures into a new realm. This album is Massy Ferguson's cinematic take on Americana, with vintage tones, analog warmth, lush instrumentation, and a more expansive, nuanced sound. The band has always been rooted in sharp songwriting, but with You Can’t Tell Me I’m Not What I Used To Be, they’ve broadened their musical horizon, capturing a deeper, more reflective side of their musical journey.
Produced by Damien Jurado—the celebrated folksinger known for his unpredictable and idiosyncratic style—the album is infused with a sense of intimate, analog production that complements the rich storytelling that Massy Ferguson is known for. Whether it’s the mournful tones of an aching ballad or the cathartic release of a driving anthem, the album unfolds like a film, exploring themes of personal evolution, nostalgia, and the passage of time.
Nearly two decades into their career, the band’s sound is more expansive than ever. While their previous works were steeped in the sweaty, rebellious energy of a good night out, You Can’t Tell Me I’m Not What I Used To Be is a more contemplative, cinematic journey through the roots of American music. The band, led by the distinctive voice and songwriting of frontman Ethan Anderson, is joined by guitarist Adam Monda, drummer Dave Goedde, and keyboardist Fred Slater, each contributing to the album’s lush, dynamic sound.
With You Can’t Tell Me I’m Not What I Used To Be, Massy Ferguson once again demonstrates their uncanny ability to craft emotionally rich, raw rock music that resonates with listeners long after the final chord fades. It’s an album about where we’ve been, where we’re going, and the people we become along the way.

Music
Fronted by husband and wife duo Kim West (keys and vocals) and Ryan Devlin (guitar and vocals,) Smokey Brights is a rock band out of Seattle, Washington. The couple’s entrancing bond shines through in their deeply personal cowriting as well as their ecstatic live performances. West, a barred attorney, and Devlin, who has a background in booking, publishing and punk bands, met working summers at a pizza restaurant in college. They write about their transition from young friends to life partners in their beloved city, touring in a van during the Northwest’s notoriously grey winters, and being in love in a deeply uncertain world. West and Devlin’s songs are made eminently danceable by Nick Krivchenia (drums) and Luke Logan (bass.) Krivchenia, an Ohio native from a family of musicians, brings a soulful, classic groove to Smokeys’ sound. Logan, who grew up singing folk songs with his family in Kodiak, Alaska, provides melodic bass lines and a crucial third harmony to the band’s vocals. Known for their explosive live shows that immerse the listener in warm, harmony rich, arena rock anthems.

"Rub blends pop sounds with positive lyrics meant to inspire you to get up and shake things up." -Caroline Ann Keynote Music Collective
RUB is a force in the music industry. Formed in 2022, this six-piece band has quickly made a name for themselves as purveyors of feel-good music with uplifting call-to-action lyrics. Blending synth-pop with rock and soul, RUB's music is a veritable feast for the ears, complete with heavy vocal harmonies and infectious beats that will get you up and dancing in no time.
Despite their relatively short time together as a band, RUB has already achieved an impressive list of accomplishments. They have played historic Seattle venues and festivals such as Bumbershoot and The Moore Theater for SMASH's benefit tribute to Sub Pop records, along with helping inaugurate the official Sir Mix-a-Lot Day in Seattle by opening the night's concert. Their first single, Contentment, became Song of The Day on KEXP, chosen by DJ Cheryl Waters, and they performed live in-studio on KEXP's Afternoon Show.
The band comprises former and current members of Trick Candles, Salt Lick, Bear Axe, NighTraiN, Killer Workout, Cute Lepers, and Panama Gold, and their collective experience and talent shines through in every performance. With a sound that is both unique and immediately accessible, RUB is on a mission to reach out and evoke emotion and hip shakes from people from all walks of life. Whether you want to get inspired or just need a good pick-me-up, RUB's music delivers.
They released their debut LP May 10, 2024.
