The Art Martyrs Relief Society aims to create a bridge between Seattle’s underfunded working artists and those who would like to support them. The annual Art Martyrs Showcase is an evening dedicated to lifting-up some of Seattle’s phenomenally talented performing artists, who entertain, inspire and challenge us nightly in theaters, clubs, and concert halls across the city. Many of these same artists are making big sacrifices in their health, security, and standard of living to fill Seattle with art and culture. Traditional granting organizations only reach a small portion of those doing this work.  The Art Martyrs Relief Society provides an opportunity, for those who have the means, to support, encourage, and sustain our city’s creativity by putting money directly into artists’ pockets.  The showcase, on January 25th at the Sunset Tavern, will be a great night of performances by this year’s awardees:  Stephanie Anne Johnson, Brett Hamill, Arson Nicki, Mantraband, Crystal Beth and Tres Leches. Admission is on a sliding scale, from artist level ($8) to supporter level ($250).
