Armor For Sleep
Alternative Rock
Armor for Sleep is an alternative rock band formed in 2001 in New Jersey by singer and songwriter Ben Jorgensen. Emerging from the early-2000s post-hardcore and emo scene, the band quickly gained attention for their cinematic songwriting and introspective themes exploring identity, loss, and the afterlife.
After releasing their debut album Dream to Make Believe in 2003, Armor for Sleep broke through with their influential 2005 concept album What to Do When You Are Dead, which followed a character navigating the afterlife and became a defining record of the era. The band continued to evolve with Smile for Them in 2007 before disbanding in 2009 after years of extensive touring.
In the following decade, the band reunited for anniversary tours celebrating What to Do When You Are Dead, reconnecting with a devoted fanbase and introducing their music to a new generation. In 2022, Armor for Sleep returned with their first new album in over fifteen years, The Rain Museum, marking a darker and more mature chapter in the band’s evolution.
In 2025, the band released their fifth studio album, There Is No Memory, through Equal Vision Records, a deeply personal and emotionally direct record exploring themes of identity, betrayal, and the fragile nature of memory. Widely regarded as their most powerful and fully realized work to date, the album represents the culmination of more than two decades of artistic growth, reaffirming Armor for Sleep as one of the most enduring and emotionally resonant bands of their generation.
