Description
Arcoiris Sandoval is a jazz pianist, arranger, composer, and Fulbright
award recipient currently residing in New York City originally from Tucson,
Arizona. Legendary jazz pianist George Cables considers her one of his
favorite young pianists and composers and the great jazz pianist Benny
Green has said “she is a true musical healer and peacemaker; she's what
the world needs now!”. She leads her own trio and quintet project called Sonic Asylum and is the Co-Director of an award winning multimedia orchestra called The
D.O.M.E. Experience along with acclaimed bassist and composer Mimi
Jones which aims to raise environmental and social awareness by
integrating orchestral composition, choreography and immersive
cinematography. Her Sonic Asylum trio and quintet project was featured at Lincoln Center Out of Doors in 2025, Martha’s Vineyard Jazz and Blues Summerfest, NYC
Winter Jazzfest in 2024, the Kennedy Center, Vermont Jazz Emerging
Artist festival, Milt Hinton Jazz Perspectives Concert Series and in 2024,
she was a South Arts Jazz Road grant recipient which allowed her to tour
with her trio throughout the US. She has won a Chamber Music America
Performance Plus grant for this ensemble to work with Billy Childs and her
original composition "Journey to Agartha" which is published in Terri Lyne
Carrington's compilation called "New Standards, 101 Lead Sheets by
Women Composers” was recently recorded by George Cables on his
latest album “I Hear Echoes”.She arranged, toured, recorded and was the MD for vocalist Allan Harris for over five years. On his album “Live at Blue Llama” which was number one on JazzWeek for several weeks, she arranged several tracks including
“Nature Boy” and “Sunny”. She has written, conducted and performed
string arrangements with notable vocalist Tammy McCann at Lincoln
Center which were also performed at the Music Institute of Chicago. Her
orchestral arrangement of Richard Bona’s hit song “Please Don’t Stop”
has been performed by Richard Bona with the Metropole Orkest at the
2016 and 2017 BBC Proms tribute to Quincy Jones. She currently tours and performs with acclaimed bassist and composer Endea Owens, vocalist Tammy McCann, actress Lea DeLaria, Mimi Jones and vocalist Svetlana.
