Living Thing, the newest full-length album from Oregon-based songwriter Anna Tivel, is an arcing diveinto the existential. Written through the tumultuous eyes of 2020 and recorded in Eau Claire, WI inprofound collaboration with long-time friend and producer Shane Leonard, these are songs of struggleand aliveness expressed with great joy.
“I wrote feverishly in the strange chaos of that year, suddenly out of work and attempting to understandthe shifting human fabric, the depth of desperation, and the overwhelmingtenacity of spirit. The resultingsongs felt rhythmic and vital, with more melody and soaring chorus than I’ve explored in the past. Therewas no way and no means to gather a full band, and I brought the songs to Shane’s doorstep knowing andfully trustingthe skill and exuberance of his creative imagination. Shane stripped everything down to thestuds and we rebuilt it together, just the two of us for a month in his garage studio, Shane dreaming upeach sonic layer while I chased the lyrics to one last double chorus."

Emerging from the bright, wide skies of Canada's west coast, Sam Weber has spent the last decade variously honing his craft as a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer, a road that crests a scenic new mountain with the arrival of his stunning new album, Everything Comes True (Sonic Unyon Records). Expanding on the ambitious canvas of his recent New Agile Freedom EP, Weber has delivered his most compelling release to date, one stacked with remarkable songs filled out by a remarkable range of talents whose gifts complement the artist's own considerable strengths.
A perceptive and compelling singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist in the vein of Jackson Browne, The Band, The Wood Brothers and Gillian Welch, Weber has been touring independently and internationally with his band since 2013 — just after he scored a glowing profile in Guitar Player magazine. Years spent refining songs at home in North Saanich, BC, working in studios in Los Angeles, CA and gigging relentlessly across Canada and throughout the Western U.S. have honed Weber’s craft to a fine point.
