Formed in Columbus, Ohio, in 2009, Angela Perley & The Howlin’ Moons radiate with electric guitars, swooning vocals, and songs that split the difference between rock & roll, americana, and dreamy psychedelia. The midwestern four-piece comprised of Angela Perley (vocals, electric guitar and sometimes musical saw), Chris Connor (lead guitar), Billy Zehnal (bass) and a rotating team of drummers for live shows, have released five EPs and two full length albums. Performing over 100 shows a year since 2014, the band has built a slow and steady grass-roots following.
2017 highlights included performing on NPR’s Mountain Stage Radio Show, having their song “Hurricane” placed on NASCAR Heat 2’s (video game) soundtrack, and opening for one of Perley’s favorite songwriters, Lucinda Williams.
The band is currently working on their third studio album and released a live in-studio EP of songs, Stereogram Sessions, July 27th of 2018. Stereogram Sessions features extended and alternate versions of previously recorded songs.
“Perley's vocals provide huge clarity and energy, yet remain soulful and rootsy, with a hazy quality that will become instantly recognizable.”- Megan Gnad, Maverick Magazine
“Marked by Perley’s sultry, twangy vocals and guitarist Chris Connor’s electric-fuzz wizardry, the Howlin’ Moons create an enduring classic-rock sound that is appropriately road-weary, far from trendy, and still building steam.” -Kyle Harris, Westword
“Perley brings some Karen O rock & roll swagger to the thriving Americana scene, and the Moons add some ferocious Nick Zinner worthy guitar prowess to the affair.”- Keith Creighton, PopDose
“Angela Perley cranks it up in her new session. Get on board with her & The Howlin’ Moons now before you’re kicking yourself later.”- Daytrotter
